The intent of the proposed project is to lower salinity, increase dissolved oxygen, and meet and/or augment flow requirements on the lower San Joaquin River by utilizing excess capacity in the Delta-Mendota Canal while reducing reliance on the New Melones Reservoir water supplies. The project will provide greater flexibility in meeting existing water quality and flow standards.
