            The project would renovate the 448 bed Saxon Suites (87,800 gsf) undergraduate residential complex, with no expansion of beds or population, and replace the existing 1-story 2,100 gsf service building with a 5,700 gsf (net 3,600 gsf) common building to better serve the residents of the complex. The project would include exterior and interior work, infrastructure improvements, upgrades to disabled suites, structural upgrades, and site improvements.

                            Pursuant to state law and University of California Procedures for Implmentation of CEQA, the proposed project is categorically exempt under Article 19, Section 15301(a) and (e), Class 1, Existing Facilities. The project is exempt because it consists of the renovation of an existing facility with an addition of less than 10,000 square feet. Furthermore, per CEQA Section 15300.2, none of the exceptions to a Categorical Exemption would apply.
