Document Description
Project is a planning study to analyze the Spring Valley distribution system and make recommendations for system improvements. One of the challenges that the system now faces is the wide ranges of pressures throughout the distribution system. The Spring Valley Water distribution system is served by a single storage tank which is supplied by the surface water treatment plant on Wolf Creek Road. Due to the topography throughout the district and the current configuration of the distribution system pressures remain relatively high (145-185 psi) and moderately high (80-135 psi) throughout a majority of the system. The installation of master pressure reducing valves in the distribution system is currently impractical due to the need to maintain minimum pressures in adjacent areas of the system. The high pressures throughout the system increase Operations and Maintenance costs, increase the amount of water lost when leaks occur, and can cause tremendous problems for the public if their customer installed pressure reducing valves fail. The District is seeking an updated water model of the system and recommendations for improvements which would allow appropriate pressure zones to be established to reduce the service pressure delivered to the end user.
