                Document Description

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement No. EPIMS-ORA-22367-R5, pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602 to the project Applicant, the City of Newport Beach, as represented by Dr. Robert Stein.
The project is limited to the installation of a water wheel, floating boom, floating trash interceptor, fixed rail transfer system, gangway, and solar power supply on the northern bank of San Diego Creek. The trash system will use floating booms to collect and guide surface trash and debris towards a rake and conveyor belt system powered by the water wheel. The rake and conveyor belt system will lift floating debris and deposit it on to a second conveyor belt that will transport the debris into a dumpster located on a concrete pad adjacent to the water wheel. The water wheel will generate its own power from the currents of the creek. Supplemental power will be obtained by an array of solar panels on top of the water wheel in events of low water flow. Excess energy will be stored in a battery array to be utilized during periods of little to no sunlight
