Document Description
Orange County Fire Authority, under the CAL FIRE Fire Prevention Grant Program (Grant Number 5GG17194), proposes to treat trees with pesticides to reduce the presence of invasive gold spotted oak borer (GSOB) and Invasive Shot Hole Borers (ISHB) within Orange County, CA. The Proposed Project is located within southwestern Orange County and would consist of unincorporated County land located within the Oak Canyon Nature Center, the Anaheim Hills Golf Course, and Deer Canyon Park.
Trees are an important component of natural ecosystems in California and treatment of infested trees would eliminate pests and slow the spread rate, enhancing the survival rate of existing tree populations. A decrease in tree mortality would ultimately reduce the wildfire risks to habitable structures by reducing potential fuel within parks and adjacent to roads, homes, and HOAs.
