                Document Description

            Conduct vegetation modification work in China Camp State Park for ecological and wildfire resilience, cultural resource protection, and fuel management. Work will occur within the defensible space zone of up to 130 feet from structures and other high priority facilities or resources, where a hazard tree has been identified by State Parks, where fuels increase fire risk to the historic China Camp Village, and along strategic roads to facilitate ingress/egress, and minimum impact suppression tactics in the event of a wildfire. This project includes maintenance and limited expansion of existing vegetation modification zones, not more than 130 feet from homes, including the McNear Drive, Knight Drive, and Glenwood Defensible Space zones. Work may be done by State Parks, contracted crews working for State Parks, or park neighbors (or their contractors) along the park boundary through issuance of Right of Entry Permits. Work will:
•	Remove dead trees and live trees with poor vigor or structure;
•	Thin remaining trees and shrubs;
•	Remove ladder fuels by pruning the branches on trees and shrubs up to 10 feet above ground;
•	Lop and scatter, chip, pile burn, and/or burn in an air curtain burner all downed woody fuel, twigs, and material generated from work;
•	Remove dead organic matter and/or plant parts on, under, or in contact with any structures;
•	Cut grass to 4 inches high or less; and
•	Meet resource management goals including retaining sensitive native plant species, removing invasive plant species unless historic, and retaining wildlife snags and logs.
