Railroad Canyon Water Reclamation Facility Roto Screen Drain Line

The Railroad Canyon Water Reclamation Facility (RRCWRF) is a wastewater treatment facility that treats and provides recycled water to Canyon Lake and Canyon Hills areas. The RRCWRF was built in 1982 and upgraded in 1991 and 2004. There is an existing 4-inch drain line between the roto screen and sump pit that experiences recurring issues with clogging and requires continual maintenance. To resolve these issues, the Project proposes to upsize the drain line to an 8-inch diameter pipeline and add three cleanout appurtenances to facilitate cleaning. The Project will also help to mitigate sewer overflows and provide maintenance access. Additionally, there are significant drainage issues from the steep slopes to the north of the recycled water ponds. This drainage needs to be redirected away from the facility into offsite drainage facilities. To divert the drainage, the Project proposes to install drainage improvements on the slope adjacent to the old sludge drying beds consisting of a series of drainage ditches, a ribbon gutter, storm drain piping, and permanent erosion control measures.
