Document Description
The VTTM Project consists of 15MWs of carport and distributed solar PV supported by 42MWh’s of fast response, long duration battery energy storage system (BESS). These assets will be combined with existing and new 12kV infrastructure and a new back up fossil fuel generation system to provide 100% energy resiliency from grid disturbances (Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPSs)) while at the same time solidifying the electrical spend for the enterprise. From a local grid perspective, the Viejas BESSs will provide up to 10MW of grid support services via a hybrid-modular storage system that will be capable of answering the fast response needs of the local grid while still enabling secure tribal operations through critical outages. It will do this in a renewable and sustainable way. This program will build on the Tribal-State-Federal partnerships that currently exist between Indian Energy, the Viejas Nation, California Energy Commission, the United States Navy/Marine Corps and the US Department of Energy. This collective Development Team looks to help lead the way through the development and commercialization of reliable, efficient, and repeatable systems that work for all stakeholders.
