Document Description
The Yucaipa Valley Water District proposes to modify the existing Henry N. Wochholz Regional Water Reclamation Facility (WRWRF) to produce water for groundwater recharge in accordance with Article 5.2 of the State of California Groundwater Replenishment Regulations. The existing facility produces Title 22 reclaimed water using microfiltration with partial reverse osmosis to adjust salinity to comply with the Groundwater Basin Plan. The upgraded treatment facility would include Full Advanced Treatment, consisting of reverse osmosis and advanced oxidation to produce water that is suitable for direct injection into groundwater basins. The facility will be able to produce non-potable water for reuse or for groundwater replenishment. The build-out capacity would be 7.4 million gallons per day (mgd), based upon the 8.0 mgd microfiltration permeate build-out capacity at WRWRF. Project components include additional and improved secondary treatment facilities (additional secondary clarifiers and returned activated sludge improvements), tertiary clarifiers, and a full advanced treatment system (reverse osmosis expansion, relocation of the UV system, and advanced oxidation process. Decarbonation and lime stabilization will be needed to stabilize the effluent from the RO treatment system prior to discharge to the non-potable water/groundwater system. All project components would be constructed in existing paved areas or installed in existing buildings at the WRWRF.
