Document Description
The Applicant proposes to construct and operate a replacement well and treatment system at their existing Sunflower Plant. The new Sunflower Well 01, will replace Columbia Well 4 and Sunflower Well 01 will have a higher capacity than Columbia Well 4. The new Sunflower Well 01 will be used to meet the current water supply demand for the water system. Columbia Well 4 is nonoperational and will be destroyed and sealed. A new nitrate treatment system will also be constructed at the Project location. The nitrate treatment system will use an ion exchange media which will be backwashed using brine solution to remove nitrate from the resin. The brine waste will be hauled off-site for disposal. The nitrate treatment system will be housed on a new concrete pad that is approximately 2,500 square feet.
