                Document Description

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has received Notification of Lake or
Streambed Alteration, EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-MEN-27871-R1C from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code.
Replacement of an existing 63-foot-long bridge over the south Fork of the Noyo River. The Project involves the replacement of superstructures consisting of single span pre-stressed concrete slabs with roadway provisions and incorporated galvanized metal guard rails. Existing concrete abutments will be improved with concrete reinforced
abutments. An engineered design has been completed and consistent with AASHTO specifications and headwall height adequate to pass 100-year flood flows. Tarps will be placed within the stream channel to capture any fallen debris and removed after project completion. Removal of the concrete footing will require an excavator positioned within a dry stream bed with a hydraulic jack. An existing approach to the work site will be used to access the stream bed and will be stabilized with mulch and/or slash and blocked to all vehicle traffic upon completion of the operations or before rainfall, whichever comes first. The bottom of new bridge is above the calculated 100-year flood flow line. Removal of vegetation will be limited to low lying grass and some shrubs. Immediate impacts to the stream are expected to be minor.

The project consists of the replacement of an existing bridge on the same footprint. The work will improve stream habitat through the removal of the concrete footing in the streambed and replacement with a single span bridge which passes 100-year flows.
