- Title
- Glenoaks Fire Station
- Description
- The County of Riverside Department of Facilities Management (County) has proposed the acquisition of approximately 21.96 acres of property and the subsequent construction and operation of the Glenoaks Fire Station on approximately two acres, with the remaining approximately 20 acres becoming part of the County's land bank. The Riverside County Fire Department operates three different types of fire stations, Rural, Urban, and Heavy Urban. Although the Glenoaks Fire Station will be constructed as an Urban Station, the Initial Study analyzed it as if it were a Heavy Urban Station to allow for the expansion of the facility without the need for additional environmental documentation. Heavy Urban Fire Stations are typically staffed by 16 people and have approximately 8,000 square feet of interior space, which includes living areas, offices, a lobby, eight bedrooms, each of which can accommodate two people, bathrooms, a dayroom, a dining area, kitchen facilities, and a gym or other area for exercise. In addition, Heavy Urban Fire Stations have three bays, one of which is a drive-through bay to facilitate the movement of vehicles and generally have one or more Type 1 Engines (a three-person engine company), squads (e.g. Series F-450, F-500 trucks), and in some instances a ladder truck, and/or an ambulance unit assigned to it.
